Tutorial 3.1: Adding and editing customers

This tutorial aims to give you an understanding of how Customer records are managed within the system. By the end of the tutorial, you will be able to add, edit and delete customers within the CRM Database of your site.
In this tutorial, you will learn how to add a Contact to your Customer Database, Edit a contact in the database, and delete a contact from the database.
Performing these functions for a Company record is completed in a similar fashion, selecting 'Company' instead of 'Contact'.
In addition to this method, Customers and Companies can be created via two other methods (not detailed here):
- From an existing database, using the Import facility under Admin -> Import Data, as detailed HERE
- Via the web, when visitors submit information into web forms, online purchases, bookings and newsletter subscriptions. as detailed HERE
Creating a contact
To create a new contact within the Admin interface, First select the 'Customers' tab, and select 'Create New Customer' option, as shown here -
You can then fill in all of the relevant Customer details as shown here -
Once you have added all of the details for this customer, select 'save and finish' to add the contact details.
Editing a Contacts Details
You can edit a contacts details by clicking onto Work with customer details link in the Action Box.
Click on the Edit button. Now all the fields become editable and you can alter the fields.
Once Completed, select the 'Save and Finish' option to save your changes.
Deleting a Contact
You can delete a contact from your CRM Database if you desire, although you should be aware that deleted contacts cannot be retrieved.
To delete a contact, find the contact you would like to remove either by searching for it using the Customers > Search option....
or by filtering your database and selecting 'view' from the filtered list on the Customers > Customers option....
Once you are viewing the Customer record, select the Delete button.
